Lake Powell

Holy granolie my blogging has gone ka-put. I can't keep up on a whole lot of things in my life right now, which means I am forced to do crappy half-jobs in attempt to catch myself up. So sorry. Anyways, this summer has been so much fun for our family. We were blessed to be able to take several fun family trips. In fact, we were gone for 18 days in July! It was exhausting! Lake Powell started us off and it was (as usual) beautiful and relaxing.

(Payter, I do not condone that type of behavior)

See the red mountain in the background? Jeff and Kobe were in the hiking group that went to the top (in blazing heat, I might add) and Kobe claims it was one of his favorite memories of LP.

G-ma & G-pa made sure to feed us well :)

I love how the water is so warm you don't even have to get used to it.

Wew, wew! Who's the cowboy?

Lexie's favorite LP friend was Kara!

Doin' the wave while catching a wave-

The oldest 4 tried the knee board. It was pretty cute to watch. I am having a hard time getting my pictures to cooperate, so I think I will have to make a separate post for the rest.

Happy Campers

Have I ever mentioned how much I love camping? I have been to several far-away destinations, and it is still hard to rival how much I enjoy being up in the mountains. And let me tell you, camping in our dinosaur trailer is the best!

We wanted to go somewhere we hadn't been before, somewhere near water, and somewhere with free campsites (Jeff's req) so we ended up at a place called Horsethief Resevoir. Some friends recommended it and I thought it was a great place! I wish the campsites had been a little further apart, but we were able to park our trailer blocking alot of it so we felt a little more secluded. We stayed 2 nights & did a little of everything. I hope to turn my kiddies into avid campers too.

So I guess you could say I am not the most organized packer in the world. Usually I am able to either borrow or buy something I am missing, but you don't have that luxury in the mts. So for breakfast we had pancake mix but no syrup (thank goodness for the omlette eggs), for lunch we had hogie sandwiches but had to pass on the jello salad I had planned with it (I forgot cool whip, which is kinda a make-or-break ingredient), and for dinner we had dutch oven potatoes and chicken with rolls, minus the chicken. I am still not sure how I managed to leave something major out of each meal. Everyone was very nice to me about it. The only complaints I got were from running out of s'mores on the second night.

We did a little hiking, biking, gaming, fishing, swimming, ect.

And you know we had fun if our faces got this dirty. Actually, what boggles my mind is that I can't get my kids to wear shoes while camping. Explain that one to me. I want sock, tennis shoes, long pants, ect. and they are running around in bare feet and swim suits. Maybe that is a sign of city kids. Or the opposite? I don't care if I had tough feet- I would be freaked out to step on one of those gigantic ants.

Of course having Molly is a highlight. The kids have so much fun with her. She is the best dog I have ever had.

And we finished up the trip with a good ole trip to our river spot. It was conveniently on the way home. And that kinda sums up all of our summer trips. Maybe now I can start living in the present. :)
